The <\/span>circular economy<\/b> is a concept that refers to a manufacturing and consumption model where <\/span>reusable products<\/b> and sustainability play a fundamental role. It\u2019s not only about creating an added intangible value, but also that the products manufactured with this system are more efficient. In addition, it seeks to lengthen life cycles in order to manufacture less. Share, reusing, repairing, and recycling are the keys to understanding this new way of life that\u2019s among the objectives of most governments in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the circular economy?<\/span><\/h2>\n

We\u2019ve previously seen a simple definition of the <\/span>circular economy<\/b>. However, it\u2019s a broad process that covers technical, labor, and even moral aspects of the economic process. The idea is to reduce the waste we produce. On one hand, it\u2019s difficult to eliminate and this practice is costly. Also, this affects the environment when it\u2019s not done correctly. <\/span><\/p>\n

Unlike the current model, <\/span>using and throwing away<\/b> products is not an option. It doesn\u2019t matter that there are cheap raw materials which can be used. Manufacturing methods and the energy used also affect us all. Also, other companies choose to make <\/span>cheap, poor quality<\/b> products, so you may have to buy a similar item several times in the same year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where do we start?<\/span><\/h2>\n

As mentioned in the previous section, we currently rely on an <\/span>obsolete economy<\/b> in terms of ecological trends and one which is unrealistic with respect to the planet we rely on. When the industrial era began, everything optimistic, because there were large, intact <\/span>sources of energy and raw materials<\/b>, since humanity hadn\u2019t known how to take advantage of them. However, a little over a century and a half later we can say that efficiency is better than mass production. Previous ideas in economics have led the world into a very serious climate and social crisis. <\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s in our hands to demand an <\/span>economic fabric<\/b> that takes the needs of the earth into account as well. At<\/span> MY DRAP<\/span><\/a> we rely on this concept when making <\/span>reusable products<\/b>. If everyone doesn\u2019t play their part, one day it will be too late.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our starting point is <\/span>good product design<\/b>, in which we cover the entire planning and manufacturing process from start to finish in our headquarters (Barcelona, Spain). Our seal of ecological quality is present in all aspects, including distribution. Our manufacturing relies on <\/span>renewable and recycled materials<\/b> to give a new lease of life to these materials. <\/span><\/p>\n

We also strive to eliminate or <\/span>minimize<\/b> production waste in order to prevent it from reaching the environment. Optimization is another of our hallmarks, as you can see from our actions. Thus, we seek to use recycled materials, save on their manufacture or transport, and manage resources sustainably. The idea is to make the most of materials and to pollute and dispose of as little as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Objectives<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are several objectives in our ethical commitment:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Reusing raw materials is in our blood. In this way, the increased <\/span>demand for raw materials<\/b> in a world with an expiry date is halted. As the world’s population increases, this may become a problem. Furthermore, the circular economy with an emphasis on recycling reduces the need and dependence of many countries on external suppliers. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • We reduce the environmental burden<\/b> and the ecological footprint associated with the extraction of raw materials. Whether it’s the textiles <\/span>cotton napkins <\/b>are made from, the fuel needed to transport them, or the plastic in each new product, it all helps to reduce the heavy burden that the planet already carries. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Save<\/b>. It\u2019s not surprising that something that\u2019s good for the planet is also good for your pocket. With the right investments in reuse methods, we\u2019re able <\/span>to<\/b> reduce the consumption <\/b>of raw materials. This also allows us to reduce the prices of our products without reducing quality.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Follow criteria associated with <\/span>energy efficiency<\/b>. In this case, we not only help reduce global electricity consumption but also reduce our own bill. This decrease allows us to further adjust prices to suit the customer. It seems easy to work out why we call it a “circular economy”.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Actions<\/span><\/h2>\n

    We contribute to reducing the <\/span>CO2 footprint<\/b> of our products. MY DRAP is a pioneer in this section, as we\u2019ve managed to ensure that a significant part of the materials we use remain in the process for several cycles. Our consumption can contribute enormously to the overall industry figures. In addition, purchasing habits influence other companies and are even extrapolated to other sectors. <\/span><\/p>\n
